 Mercury is retrograde until September 12th. This cycle coincides with the need to review, re-work and slow down activities and the mental process in general to prevent errors, misunderstandings and create a better manner of communicating.  We see the result of past planning, communications, commitments and paperwork while Mercury is retrograde  - and this time is best used to sort things out. 

       Other Mercury retrograde flubs include technology breakdowns (backup your files!) and commitments made often need to be retracted now.  Often contracts will need to be re-drawn later (the rule is 'Don't sign, Don't buy' during a Mercury Retrograde - although this period sometimes works in favor of those born with a natal Mercury retrograde... check your chart)  General havoc and frustration  abounds for most of us (although for those with Mercury retrograde in their birth charts, these periods tend to work out better for you).  This retrograde period will last until September 13th, 2010 - but Mercury will not leave its 'shadow' until September 27th, by which time we should have finished the re-working or sorting out.

Saturn is now in Libra, and will be for the next couple years.  Though Saturn functions at its best in Libra, that it has to contend with a square aspect to Pluto, means we must go through delays, obstacles or setbacks before we can take full advantage of Saturn in its sign of exaltation (Libra).  With the ingress of Saturn into Libra, the focus of sergeant Saturn moves onto the law, justice, as well as peace, beauty and harmony in relationships.. and long-standing issues are necessarily sorted out with Pluto in the mix.  Those in relationships that have been plodding along without resolving problems, will now have to take a scrutinizing look at how to solve them, or they may end entirely.  A private chart reading will show how stressfully these and other upcoming aspects will affect your chart.

Uranus is in the early degrees of Aries.  This ingress marks a new 'collective' awareness; an awakening from the 'dream state' of the past 7 years while Uranus was in Pisces.  This mass awakening may soon take the form of anger and riots (Aries) and shocks (Uranus) as notions that have been cloaked in illusion while Uranus was in Pisces come to our consciousness with a sudden urgency.  These awakenings to play out on the world stage because the world axis is 0° of the cardinal signs, and both Uranus and Jupiter are at this point opposing 'status quo' Saturn.  But Uranus will also go back into Pisces from August 14th all the way until March 12, 2011, so we are temporarily  lulled back into a dream state, still not fully ready to face the changes up ahead.

Jupiter has been retrograde since July 24th. The significance of this appears in truth seeking, legal transactions, and philosophical pursuits.  We will all be looking for the real truth in all matters to come out, and will be drawn to sources that we don't usually go to to find it.  It takes more effort to distrust what we usually believe and seek out what is really true.  Because this retrograde is in Aries, we will likely be very assertive in looking for these truths and may be quite angered at what we find, but it will be a worthy and beneficial use of this transit.  The entry of Chiron (wounds) into Pisces (water) coincided with the BP explosion in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Grand cross formation between five cardinal planets and additional trans-Neptunian planets represents an extreme amount of pressure for change, letting go and new initiative.  There has been no other time in history where these 5 planets have formed a Cardinal Grand Cross.  The cardinal energy is about initiative to make change and revolution.  Particularly very early in the month as these energies are joined with Venus and Mars as well as part of the cross, everyone will be feeling the pressure. If you have planets or personal points at early degrees of the cardinal signs, you will especially be affected and respond to these energies.  A reading can help define the best course of change to take and when to take it.

Pluto is part of the grand cross formation.  Pluto brings death, destruction and resurrection.. and while it is in the sign Capricorn, we can expect more breakdowns of business and the economy.. and a slow rebuild over many years.  What we've seen so far is just the beginning... the destruction from Pluto usually flattens things to the point of numbness before the resurrection phase begins.  We can expect that even with temporary buzz of economic recovery, the planetary alignments of the next few years greatly resemble those of the Great Depression from 1929 to 1931 and beyond.  Any talk of economic lift is likely a false signal that the world economy is stabilizing.  It will take many years before it will settle.  Even then, it will be an entirely new system that may not resemble what we have now.

Now and for the next couple years there are a series of oppositions between Saturn and Uranus.  

Saturn = structure, Uranus  = rebellion.
