What
Is Astrology?
Astro
(stars) - logos (study of)
Astrology is perhaps the oldest form of scientific study.
It is ironic that so many people try to debunk astrology, when really
that is impossible. How can you
deny that the study of the stars and the motion of the planets take place?
The field of astrology both in practice as well as academic study is
growing by leaps and bounds. The Kepler
College has been up and operating since 2000 offering fully government
accredited Bachelors and Masters Degrees in astrology and related fields.
How
does astrology work?
Once the initial calculations have been made for a birth chart, the
complexity of patterns and combinations are examined.
No two horoscopes are alike, nor are any two people.
Horoscope columns generalize interpretations to a Sun sign and in
turn warp what astrology really can accomplish.
Unfortunately general horoscope columns add a lot of weight to astrology’s
reputation. It is for this reason
many still believe astrology is a lot of generalized prophecy and humorous
anecdotes as accurate as a fortune cookie, and about as useful.
In reality, the study of astrology requires tremendous amounts of mathematical calculations and practice to even scratch the surface of how an astrology chart ‘works’. The paths and motions of the planets have been documented, and through observation and experience, certain trends have been assigned to each of their phases and patterns. The calculations are the first step in chart examination. In order to interpret a chart for example, an astrologer must be well versed in mythology, the life cycles of mankind, and in terms of horoscope interpretation, have a great sensitivity to human psychology and the breadth of human life and its experiences. It is a consulting astrologer’s goal to explain comprehensively and with sensitivity a client’s life circumstance and to be able to advise them accurately along their path, as well as give support in the event of a dilemma or life crisis.
